Save the turtle | Salva las tortugas

Some turtles are endangered species, as giant turtles; there is only one left living in Ecuador:  solitary George. Reusing egg cartons we are going to make little turtles.

Material:

• Orange construction paper
• Yellow construction paper
• Eggs carton
• Black marker
• Light-green marker
• Strong-green marker
• Glue
• Scissors
• Eyes stickers

Cut an eggcup from the carton.

Cut a square of 4x4cm (1,6 x 1,6 inch) in the yellow construction paper. With the black marker, trace the shape of the eggcup. Place an orange paper under the yellow one and cut according to the eggcup‘s shape.

Now, work with orange-paper’s remains. We are going to make turtle’s legs. Fold a rectangle of paper in its long. Cut it in the middle. Then, cut from a corner to the opposite one an elongated shape, as the shape of a bean. You obtain two legs. Repeat it to obtain two more. To make turtle’s head, cut an oval from the remains.

Glue the legs and the head around the yellow circle. Then, glue the orange circle on the yellow one the way it hides the collage.

On the eggcup, draw the turtle’s scales with the black marker. Colour one of two scales with the light green and the rest with the strong one.

Pass glue on the head of the turtle to fix the eyes. If you don’t have stickers, draw two eyes with the black marker. Also draw two dots to make the nose. Pass the glue on turtle’s body and place the shell on it.

Put the turtle upside down. Draw a central line with the black marker and then horizontal ones. You’ve finished your turtle!

Algunas especies de tortugas están amenazadas de desaparición, como la tortuga gigante; sólo queda un representante que vive en Ecuador: George el solitario. Reutilicemos los cartones de huevos para fabricar tortugas pequeñas.

Material:

• Papel de construcción anaranjado
• Papel de construcción amarillo
• Cartón de huevos
• Rotulador negro
• Rotulador verde claro
• Rotulador verde oscuro
• Pegamento
• Tijeras
• Ojos de pegatina

Corta las copas del cartón de huevos.

Corta un cuadrado de 4x4cm en el papel de construcción amarrillo. Con el rotulador negro, dibuja el contorno de una copa en el centro del cuadrado amarillo. Coloca un rectángulo de papel anaranjado debajo del amarillo y corta según el contorno de la copa.

Ahora, trabaja con los restos del papel anaranjado. Vamos a hacer las patas de la tortuga. Pliega el rectángulo en dos en su largo. Córtalo en la mitad. Corta desde una esquina hasta la esquina opuesta una forma alargada, como la forma de una haba. Obtienes dos patas. Repite el paso otra vez. Para hacer la cabeza, corta un ovalo en los restos del rectángulo naranja.

Pega las patas y la cabeza de la tortuga alrededor del círculo amarillo. Después, pega el círculo naranja por encima para que no se vea el colage.

Coge una copita y dibuja las escamas encima con el rotulador negro. Empieza a colorear una escama de dos con el rotulador verde claro, y las demás con el verde oscuro.

Pon pegamento en la cabeza de la tortuga para pegar los ojos. Si no tienes ojos de pegatina dibuja los ojos con el rotulador negro. Dibuja dos puntos para hacerle una nariz. Pasa también pegamento en el cuerpo de la tortuga y pega el caparazón.

Da la vuelta a la tortuga. Dibuja una línea central con el rotulador negro. Después, dibuja líneas horizontales. ¡Has terminado tu tortuga!
