This hotel is the first building that crosses a Formula one race track. It was opened to the public during the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix, last November. The complex is formed by two buildings united by a bridge that crosses over the race tracks.
The interesting part, that concerns us, is the amount of LED lights that illuminate the whole building. It is true that LED makes this lighting energy efficient, but although it looks amazing, is definately excessive. The roof is covered by a colour changing light net made of 5000 LEDs in diamond shape.
A bit too much covering the whole roof, don´t you think?

Asymptote architecture fue la firma encargada de diseñar Yas Hotel, el proyecto más grande del mundo en iluminación LED.
Este hotel es el primer edificio que cruza un circuito de Fórmula 1. Fue abierto al público durante la celebración del gran Premio de Fórmula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi, el pasado Noviembre. El complejo está formado por dos edificios unidos mediante un puente que cruza sobre el circuito.
La parte interesante de este proyecto, que es la que nos concierne, es la cantidad de iluminación LED utilizada en todo el edificio. Es cierto que las luces LED son energéticamente eficientes, pero aunque se ven increíbles, es definitivamente excesivo. El tejado está cubierto por una red de luces que cambian de color, unas 5000 LEDs, dispuestas en forma de diamante.
Un poco demasiado cubrir todo el tejado, no te parece?
