Great news coming from London these days; the Olympic Stadium it's going to use in its construction recycled materials.

London city and Olympic authorities want this games to be green, so they are trying to do their best in recycling.

One of the materials that we found most intriging is coming from the Metropolitan police department: 

The police department has been recycling for many years already, and now, confiscated weapons are going to be melted and made into scrap metal which will be used in the building. The police has made 52 tonnes of scrap metal out of knives, guns or keys.

They have been recycling not only guns and knives, but also the uniforms or used bullets.

And not only is the construction going to be green, also the post-construction, since Chicago, is planning to receive the bulk of the stadium after the Olympics have passed, to get ready for their own events. If this idea comes to reality, it could allow poor countries to host the Olimpics, since the costs can be greatly reduced.

It has been decided that the stadium will hold a small number of permanent seats, but a scaffold that allows increasing the number of seats for the duration of the competitions will be built around. This way, several cities can own at the same time this structure, and reduce the costs of their buildings.

Fantásticas noticias llegan de Londres estos días; el estadio Olímpico va a utilizar en su construcción materiales reciclados.

La ciudad de Londres y las autoridades olímpicas quieren que estos juegos sean especialmente ecológicos, y es por ello que están haciendo esfuerzos en el reciclaje.

Uno de los materiales que hemos encontrado más curiosos viene del departamento de policía de la ciudad:

El departamento de policía lleva reciclando ya muchos años, y ahora, armas confiscadas van a ser derretidas y reconvertidas en planchas metálicas listas para ser reusadas en edificios. La policía tiene ya 52 toneladas de metal, que ha sacado de cuchillos, pistolas o llaves.

Han estado reciclado no solo armas y cuchillos sino también uniformes y balas.

Y no sólo la construcción va a ser ecológica, sino también la post-construcción, ya que Chicago, planea recibir la mayor parte del estadio cuando los Juegos hayan finalizado, para prepararse para sus propios eventos. Si esta idea se convierte en realidad, podría ayudar a países pobres a ser anfitriones de los juegos, ya que podrían reducir los costes en gran medida.

Se ha decidido que el estadio contenga un número determinado de asientos, y se construirá un andamio que permitirá aumentar los sitios durante las fechas de las competiciones. De esta forma, varias ciudades podrán compartir esta estructura, reduciendo así los costes de la edificación.
